I cant see them doing that, they would lose a large number of players....which means a large amout of cash. Think about it like this, in six months, it wont much matter.

An economy sweep wouldn't be effective. The new economy would develop in the same old ruts. What they need to do is fix the current economy by creating proper gold sinks that establish a balance with the gold influx. They need to find an ideal total market value, and balance it so that it stays there. This won't happen by wiping the economy.

If they wipe items I'll never touch this game again, I didn't play 350-400+ hours to lose all that I've busted my arse to get.
I'm dying for some good gold sinks, suppose I could take a ton of ale into the fissure eh?

I dunno, maybe an Item Gambler like the one in D2 with highly overpriced items. That'd eat up the gold fast.

Item Gambler would work to an extent, but it would be far better to kill two birds with one stone by creating, for example, Taverns. This would allow for innovative gold sinks that don't reward the player with anything but community building, and it would also satisfy the people who think there isn't enough to do that involves more than just your party.

I would stop complaining now. I doubt they will do this but still.

I can't seem to make as much gold as other people.
Those other people keep buying items, thus raising the prices.
I blame it on the economy.
I want a reset, completely wipe out all gold and items.
Thanks.

That's foolish. You will still be poor, the rich will still be rich, and a load of people will have left the game.

I'm hoping hydrak was joking. If not, I just feel sorry for them. It's not the economy's fault. Ok, the economy isn't the greatest, but a wipe is an absurd idea and I hope that nobody actually seriously thinks it would be effective for anything but shutting the game down due to lack of participants.

Noes, this game isn't perfect. Let's go back and play Risk Your Life or RoseOn
[Point: People in this game whine about everything, yet, this is probably the best MMORPG ever made. Reason: They are all Counter Strike players.]

I like that idea. A place for characters to go and just hang around, drink some ale, meet up with other adventurers. And after a hard fought battle, you return to the pub to wet your whistle and celebrate.

In comparison to the general population, I'm quite poor, as I'm just a casual player. Farmers will always make far more money than I do, but I don't want a reset.
Sure, I can't afford the best equipment, but I can come close. Some farmer might spend a fortune on a +30 pommel of fortitude, but I could get a +27 one for 100K less. Ooh, I'm at a disadvantage of 3 health, boo hoo.
As Sholtar and ManadartheHealer said, a reset will only delay the so-called imbalance, not stop it. Gold sinks are the way to go.

I don't have enough gold to buy anything.
I'm jealous of all the rich people who can buy everything.
The economy I'm blaming.
A.net I want reseting.

Um, I play on average for 30 minutes to an hour each day, and I can easily buy what I want (obviously not the perfect equipment, but pretty damned close.) Yeah, I'm also jealous of the rich people who can buy whatever they want too, but they have almost no advantage over people like me. Fixing the economy, such as through gold sinks is the answer; resetting doesn't solve a thing.

Just wiping all the money, people will still do the same thing over and over again. Economy repeats itself. We having too much inflation, what do we do? Try to lessen the money in the economy, use gold sink, or they can try to control prices.
Since prices are not easy to control in online games whereby you cannot set a ceiling price or floor price, the next best thing would be to at least give out a price guide. New players can use this guide from getting cheated, and preventing people from further cheating therefore raising the price even higher.
Or if the reason so much inflation is going on because too much demand, too little supply. ANet do not have to be so efficient in cutting out ALL of the nice farming spots. When farming spots keep getting nerfed, sure lack of supply, demand still high, therefore people sell stuff for higher price, only the rich can afford.
Then if people have problem against farming, perhaps ANet need to find a way to increase supply of those items, through collectors, or quest, or something. Inflation is only going to get worse and worse unless something is done.
I'm not saying that ANet hasnt done anything. The Dwarven ale was quite nice, but somehow these things are only temporary.
Wiping everything is only going to cause even more hatred. Instead of just hatred towards economy, they going to get hatred towards game. *poof* players disappear...
